Erin Payne DeFulvio

Erin joined the staff of St. Francis Springs in the summer of 2025 as Volunteer and Development Coordinator. A Durham, NC native, she has spent her life cultivating community and creating spaces of belonging.

Her career reflects a deep commitment to compassion and justice, supporting healthcare workers’ well-being at Duke Hospital, walking alongside individuals facing employment barriers at StepUp, serving as a congregational care pastor, and building global teams focused on education and health. Since 2005, she has also helped form intentional communities, including the Corner House in Durham’s North Street neighborhood.

Erin delights in life with her husband Bill, in the gift of unlikely friendships, the wisdom of mystics and movement leaders, the beauty of nature and motion, and the mystery of what God makes possible. St. Francis Springs first welcomed her through Corner House retreats, places of quiet and nourishment she now feels honored to help offer to others.
